Tangueray and LSU scarf Thursday, Jan 24 2008

Okay, my daughter works as a cashier in a grocery store, and yesterday she brought home an empty Tangueray canister. She told me I could have it if I wanted to use it for knitting or to store stuff in (like knitting needles, etc.) Of course, it is not tall enough to put knitting needles in, but I kept looking at it until it finally hit me. I punched a hole in the lid, filed down the edges of the hole, then dropped my ball of yarn in and threaded the yarn through the hole. Now I can knit without the ball of yarn rolling all over the floor. Here is a picture of it along with the LSU scarf I’m making for my daughter.

I only have about 12 inches on the scarf so far, but it goes really fast. It is knit in the round, then the ends are tied up with fringe, so it is actually double thickness. I like it because I can make a stockinette stitch scarf without the edges curling.

Currently working on… Wednesday, Jan 23 2008

Okay, I’ve actually got 3 projects going right now. The most important one is a sweater that I am making for my dad. I made my mom one and need to finish my dad’s before their anniversary in Feb.

The sweater I’ve already made for my mom:

I am also working on a big comfy cozy wraparound sweater for me from the book Classic Knits Wraparound sweater
I have the back finished and part of one of the front pieces. My yarn store had to order more of the yarn for me, so I am waiting for it to come in. This is what I have of it so far: knitting-001.jpg and knitting-002.jpg It is done with really huge super chunky yarn and size 15 (US) needles, so it is really thick and soft and cozy.

I am also making my daughter a scarf out of really elegant purple and gold part angora yarn in honor of being accepted to LSU (yay! Go Tigers BCS Champions!) I am using the pattern from the Harry Potter pattern book: Harry Potter Knits Scarf

So, those are the 3 projects I am currently working on, and the one I have just (last week) finished.
